Notice of Green Acres Public Scoping Hearing
Please take notice that the Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills (Township) will hold a public hearing (scoping hearing) on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Troy Hills Elementary School, located at 509 S. Beverwyck Road, Parsippany, New Jersey. The purpose of the hearing will be to receive public comment as to the proposed diversion of an approximately 2.1 acre portion of Township-owned lands located at Block 621, Lot 24 in the Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills, County of Morris, commonly referred to as the “Edwards Road Tract”, which is subject to a Declaration of Encumbrance between the Township and the State of New Jersey. As to said land, a permanent right of way and easement is proposed to be acquired from the Township by Jersey Central Power & Light Company (JCP&L) for the construction of a portion of JCP&L’s new 230 kV transmission line from JCP&L’s Whippany substation, located in East Hanover, New Jersey, to its Montville substation, located in Montville, New Jersey. Compensation, to be determined, would be given by JCP&L to the Township for the permanent easement. The lands in question are encumbered by State of New Jersey Green Acres regulations, and an application for the major diversion of said land may be submitted by the Township to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Green Acres Program, for approval by the Department’s Commissioner and by the State House Commission. A public scoping hearing is required by Green Acres’ regulations prior to the submission of any formal application for the diversion of the said land.
