OPEN POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Full Time – Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Department:     Emergency Medical Services

Workweek:      Sunday-Saturday – varying hours 12-hour shifts

Wage:              Non-Exempt Hourly Employee, Salary $29.38/hour

Definition:       Under direction, performs the duties of a New Jersey Emergency Medical Technician in

accordance with NJ 8:40 & 840:A regulations, and Township policy. Additionally, must adhere to the Par-Troy EMS Standard Operating Procedures. Position includes driving an ambulance and providing emergency medical treatment, both at the scene and on the return trip to the hospital; performs related duties.

Skills/Duties:   Perform duties of an EMT under various conditions, operate an emergency vehicle, and lift and move patients and equipment. Execute the position as outlined in the above-referenced New Jersey Administrative Code.

§ Position requires candidate to remain calm in emergency situations and have the ability to establish a rapport with the patient.

§ Ability to input electronic patient care reports on a mobile device.

§ Capable of understanding, remembering, and carrying out oral and written directions assigned by department leadership. Able to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English.

§ Candidate must be able to work harmoniously with others and provide excellent customer service.

Education, Experience and Certifications Required:

                        Possesses a valid New Jersey State Driver’s License, current New Jersey State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic (EMT-P) certification, American Heart Association BLS CPR certification, Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support or equivalent. Applicant must have previously completed NIMS 700 and ICS 200. At the time of interview, the applicant must submit a certified driver’s abstract. Any cost associated with this is the responsibility of the applicant.

§ A minimum of one-year experience as NJ EMT or EMT-P is preferred.
