OPEN POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Supervising Sewage Plant Repairer - Grade F 
 
Department: Sewer Utility
 
Workweek: 5 Days per week - 7:00am – 3:30pm. Must be available and respond to emergencies 24/7 and work overtime when necessary and have a telephone through which he or she can be contacted. Subject to change based upon the needs of the department and the Township
 
Wage: Per Ordinance, $23.00 - $56.00/hour, non-exempt Blue-Collar Grade F. Excellent Benefits Package provided.
 
Definition: Under direction, supervises and works with a group of repairers engaged in repairing and maintaining equipment at the sewage treatment facility and pump stations, and performs other related duties as required.

Skills/Duties: Supervises, trains and works with a group of repairers/mechanics involved in operating, repairing, replacing, adjusting and regulating sewage plant pumps, valves, and other equipment such as: chemical feed machines, sludge pumps, flow meters, valves, screens, conveyors, vehicles, building components, etc.
 Periodically inspects plant and equipment for malfunctions and needed repairs, performs minor to major repairs including burning and welding, on all Sewer Utility machinery and equipment.
 Gives assignments and instructions to subordinates.  
 Prepares reports, maintains records and files in both paper and electronic formats.
 Reviews performance of employees, determines assignments, so that each is used to their best ability, to be objective of efficient, safe, cost effective and high-quality work. Must install good group morale.
 Provides instruction and development opportunities. Acts when employees excel and meet or fall below work performance standards and presents items/issues that require or may require discipline to the attention of Superintendent.
 Carries out Township policies and programs as they apply to the Repairer Group.
 Performs special assignments as assigned by superior.
 Prepares reports with recommendations for submission to the Superintendent. 
 Knowledge and ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by agency, office or related units such as computers, mobile devices and installed software/programs/applications.
Requirements: Three (3) years of experience in operating, adjusting, regulating repairing, and maintaining pumps, valves, vehicles, conveyors, electric motors, and other electrical and mechanical equipment used in a sewage treatment plant and pump stations, and of sludge dewatering equipment or other such experience that would support a smooth transition to the requirements of this position.
Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of this position.
License: Appointees will be required to possess a valid driver’s license. CDL License is required.
