OPEN POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Full Time Mechanic
Department: Police Department, Police Garage
Workweek: Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Subject to change based upon the needs of the department and the Township. Must have a telephone at which he/she can be contacted.

Skills/Duties: Repairs engines and components, power trains, suspension systems and other mechanical units. Maintenance and repair of various types of vehicles, light duty, engines, on board computers, electrical, air conditioning and brake systems, transmission, components and similar equipment.
Candidate must be able to read and use technical manuals, specifications, diagrams, schematics and similar guides to make repairs to vehicles and equipment. Candidate must be able to examine and discuss with operator the nature of the malfunctions. Knowledgeable of various engines, transmissions, drive trains, electrical systems and components of vehicles and how they operate in order to diagnose the reasons for failure and to correct the problems.
This position will require the use of various tools and equipment, including hand tools, air tools, tire machines, brake lathes, grinders, electronic scanner, welding and cutting tools to test and repair vehicles.
Able to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English. Understand, remember and carry out oral and written instructions.
Able to drive a truck. Possess a valid Driver’s License.
Education, Experience
and Licenses: G.E.D. or Highschool Diploma, ASE Certified. Other licenses/certifications may be obtained
if required.
